Pennsylvania Emergency Preparedness Guide can help residents become better prepared for emergencies

The 12-page easy-to-use guide, published in English or Spanish provides information on the types of emergencies that may affect the commonwealth's communities and residents, now residents will be notified of an event, and the plans that are in place to deal with these events.  The guide also explains how to create a home emergency plan, what should be included in an emergency kit, and what to do after disaster strikes.

The publication includes telephone numbers for the Red Cross, the Pennsylvania Poison Control Centers, and county emergency management agencies and health departments.

Copies of the guide are available at local health departments, emergency management agencies, and regional EMS councils.  Township residents also may call toll-free, (877) PA-HEALTH, to request the guide or download it by logging onto www.state.pa.us, www.health.state.pa.us, www.pema.state.pa.us, or www.homelandsecurity.state.pa.us.
